Recipe created by Boob to Food

These homemade beef burger patties are packed with flavour and everyday ingredients, including grated carrot, onion and fresh parsley. Serve them with mash and veggies for a family dinner or pop them into a bun with a simple homemade burger sauce.

Step 1

Prepare the breadcrumbs. Toast the sourdough bread and blitz into breadcrumbs.

Step 2

Grate the vegetables. Grate the brown onion and carrot using your Wiltshire Handheld Grater.

Step 3

Mix the ingredients. In a large bowl, add the grated onion, garlic, carrot, beef mince, parsley, egg, BBQ or tomato sauce and breadcrumbs. Mix with your hands until well combined.

Step 4

Shape the patties. Form the mixture into 8-10 rissoles using your hands or the burger press from the Wiltshire Crafted for Foodies Backyard Classics BBQ & Burger Set.

Step 5

Cook the patties. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add the ghee or olive oil. Cook the patties for approximately 3-4 minutes per side, flipping once, until browned and cooked through. Check that the centre reaches 75°C, cooking for longer if needed.

Step 6

Make the burger sauce. Add the mayonnaise, tomato sauce, Dijon mustard, chopped pickles and pickle juice to a bowl. Mix until well combined.

Step 7

Serve and enjoy. Serve the patties warm with mashed potato, salad or roasted vegetables. Alternatively, add them to a burger bun with the homemade burger sauce.

Swaps & Modifications

  • Egg-free? Omit the egg and breadcrumbs to make a kofta-style patty. The mixture will still hold together.
  • Gluten-free? Replace the breadcrumbs with ⅓ cup almond meal or crushed rice crackers.
  • Sauce swaps: No BBQ sauce? Use 1 tbsp tomato sauce and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce instead.
