About Me

Shape your sushi

Your Sushi Rice is ready… let’s make some shapes!

Before you start
Wash your hands and fill a small bowl with cold water. Wet moulds and wet fingers stop the rice from sticking.

Shaped Rice Moulds

  1. Dip your Shaped Rice Mould in the water, then use the Rice Spoon to fill it halfway with sushi rice.
  2. Want a surprise inside? Pop a little filling in the middle, like cucumber, avocado or cooked chicken, then top with more rice.
  3. Dip the top cover of the mould in the water and press the rice down firmly so there are no gaps.  The firmer you press, the better your shape will hold!
  4. Turn the mould over onto a plate and press the bottom of the mould to gently push the rice out. Ta-da!

Cat-Shaped Rice Mould

  1. Fit the pieces of your Cat-Shaped Rice Mould together and dip it in the water.
  2. Fill it with rice right to the top, using the Sushi Press to push the rice into the ears and pack it down firmly.
  3. Press the lid down firmly, then gently push your cat out onto a plate. Meow!

Cat-Themed Nori Cutters

  1. Keep your hands dry for this part. Nori goes soft and sticky when it gets wet.
  2. Place the pink sushi press under your piece of nori and place the Cat-Themed Nori Cutter on top. Press down firmly to punch out eyes, noses and whiskers.
  3. Use the tip of a chopstick to place the faces on your rice shapes. A tiny dab of water helps them stick.

Pack Your Bento
Pack your creations into your Bento Box for a lunchbox treat!

Grown-up tips:

  • Room-temperature rice shapes best. Rice straight from the fridge goes hard and crumbly.
  • Add nori faces just before eating so they stay crisp.
  • For school lunches, use cooked or veggie fillings and pack an ice brick.
